South Florida Law Firm Investigates Unauthorized Use of Firm Website
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (PRWEB) January 15, 2010 -- The South Florida personal injury law firm of Gordon & Doner has filed a federal lawsuit against the owners of a Web site and GoDaddy.com (host and registrar) for copyright infringement.
“It appears that another company or individual has copied almost the entirety of our Web site, changing a few of the names and titles, and repurposed it as their own,” said Adam Doner (http://www.fortheinjured.com/adam-s-doner.asp), firm partner. “The unauthorized Web site includes our trademark, layout, our original content, as well as claiming our trial and community service accomplishments. Additionally, the unauthorized Web site has even posted our attorneys photos, claiming them as their own, and using our likenesses without permission.”
The federal complaint, filed Jan. 6 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, is captioned Gordon & Doner, P.A. v. Go Daddy Group, Inc. and John Does 1-3 (Case 9:10-cv-80015-XXXX).
The hijacked copy of the Gordon & Doner Web site (http://www.fortheinjured.com/) carries the law firm name Maslin & Associates and includes a street address in central Manchester, a city in northwest England. However, after consulting with attorneys in England, it was discovered that no such law firm or attorneys exist.
The reason for copying the site remains unclear, but Doner said his firm was working with copyright attorneys to compel those responsible to shut down the site and find responsible party.
The original Gordon & Doner Web site can be viewed at www.fortheinjured.com. As of January 11, the unauthorized copy of the Web site could be viewed at http://www.maslinassociates.com/.
